Celebrating Nico Pico.

My favorite CakeMom made the cake for me. Thank God too because when I make cakes I’m typically still icing as guests arrive. And this

day I was gone the entire night til morning shooting a birth, had to clean and shop which left me negative 20 min to deal with a cake. I

absolutely love it. Perfection, Carrie! Thankssss!

When I picked the color theme, I hadn’t even realized my blue and green Christmas decor would be out in addition to the 3 colors being

the theme in our house. Schwing!

Adam printed out a life size Nico for the party. Nico found it to be pretty awesome. He’s still on the wall and I don’t want to take his happy

little face down. Likely will just add Nori for her party in a couple weeks. Ha!

As suspected, he dominated his cake. Adam only caught a snippet of it, but of course he tried to do what he always does with any food and

casually stick it down under his butt. It’s his thing and it drives me nuts. I think he just likes to have his food squished to his pants to save

for later. You will also notice me holding down his hands because on his actual bday he decided to extinguish the flame by smacking it. It

didn’t even phase him, hot melted wax on his hand and all. The only disappointment was that Aunt Ali wasn’t there to tell him to “wash his

hair.” A tradition she started with all the kids while eating their first bday cake. Others tried, he didn’t fall for it. Boo.

Who is surprised the box was more exciting to him than the present?

He loves his Uncle Ben and well, Olivia can’t EVER keep her hands off him. So sweet. Most of the time.

Our friend Joe is a die hard baseball fan, along with the rest of my family.  He bought Nico his first pack of baseball cards.

Adam loved Nico’s response because neither of us care for baseball. HA!

Oliver and Nico. (The last time they had their pic taken together.)

Doesn’t every first bday party end like this? He was spent but still woke up in time to go to a Christmas party that night!

One of these days I’m going to format and finish his monthly images. One day, hopefully before he is two.

Heart, Melanie and Adam.

HBD Nico!

His year in pictures…

And finally, he is 1!

He’s obsessed with climbing on top of tables and stools. He’s always quick to look at me with this, “mom did you see what I just did, aren’t

you proud?” grin. Then he giggles and hides his face while I run to get him down from wherever he shouldn’t be.

Heartbreaker.

This kid. Oy. He will go from bin to bin of toys just to dump them out just TO GET IN THE BIN. He doesn’t even want the toys, just wants

to hang out in there. It’s hysterical. When he isn’t in a bin, he’s behind the toy chest, under the table or squeezed in some other place that

should make him feel claustrophobic!

He truly is the happiest kid. From the time he learned to smile, he hasn’t stopped. I love how happy he is all day. Then it becomes night and

he hates life and refuses to sleep. Yep. It’s a good time every night here, especially since they share a bedroom and love to wake each other

up. Mommy really enjoys it. But he’s just so cute.

He doesn’t stop moving unless he’s in a box. True story.

Here is his mischievous ways caught on my iPhone. He’s always looking for trouble. Typically finds it the second I stop watching. If I had

the time, I’d hover over him protecting him from each tumble (every 30sec) and keeping him out of harms way. His head must be made of

steal because he seriously bangs it a good 5 times a day. I’m quite surprised child services hasn’t been called with the amount of bruises his

face typically has. I’m thinking about getting him a helmet for Christmas. (Actually amusing because I’ve had so many serious head injuries

that my Dr suggested I wear a helmet daily before I don’t come out of the next concussion. :O EEK! )

And just for fun, a little comparison. Apparently, I sang them both Itsy Bitsy while taking their 1yr pics. Ha!

I think they look pretty dang similar. We have such pretty kids.

We are doing the real deal celebration tomorrow. We did a small thing with the grand parents last night, which he proceeded to fall asleep

during dinner. Ha! I know he’s going to dominate his cake like a champ, though. The kid has been eating more than Nori for months.

(Check ups got messed up so we will have officially weigh in around Nori’s 3rd bday in a couple weeks.) He’s growing and learning so fast, I

just love it. I wish I had the time to write all the fun things he’s doing, but now I have to go stop him from nosediving down the wood steps

as he’s currently trying to climb over the gate. GAAAAAAAAAAH. Happy birthday you active little boy, you!! We love you so much!

Heart, Mommy, Daddy and your favorite sister who I can’t wait for you to beat up any day now, Nori.

Ps. I did do the monthly pics again, just don’t have time today to deal with them. Will post later when my head is not so overwhelmed.

Halloween 2012.

First up, a little tribute to Auntie Ali: Cotton candy.

It wasn’t hard to make at all. I found a white chicken costume (from once upon a child for a few bucks) because I wanted a full white base. I

used spray adhesive and pillow stuffing to cover it. Finished it with a light pink fabric dye spray and a styrofoam cone on her head. It was

super cute aesthetically, worst idea ever functionally. We trick-or-treated at the nursing home and I was hovering behind her trying to

reattach the fluff as she ran through the halls. DUMB. When we were done I decided it was fair to rest my back against the wall across from

Nanaw’s door and eat half her candy. But she’s super cute, right? :)

OOMPA LOOMPA DOOPITY DO.

This was even easier! All I bought was a brown turtleneck, white poms, green hairspray and ribbon. We had everything else here! Used

white paint to stripe, then hot glue to attach everything. I dyed his face with an orange washable marker because all the facepaint options

were miserable. The marker went on wet enough that I could smear it around easily. Snot and slobber also smeared it around nicely which

made for hysterical streaks everywhere later.

“Good morning, Starshine” Willy Wonka Johnny Depp style. He’s good. He even acts super creepy like Depp did.

When Adam is into something, he really commits. The jacket was Goodwill. Glasses online. The little tweeks he did himself, along with

illustrating and printing his own golden tickets. He’s awesome. If only he put this much effort into our yard. Or showering.Last but not least, I played the role of the Golden ticket inside the Wonka Bar. I made mine out of felt and hot glue. Took no time at all! The

rest I had in my closet. Though I did my the obnoxious yellow tulle bow because I needed something to distract from the glitter catastrophe

that happened to my face. Started as a good idea, ended looking like a glitter fairy sneezed on my head.

And he we are. The talk of the nursing home. Supposedly. Well, according to my mom. Most the old folks were either asleep as the kids

snuck two pieces of stale candy from their basket, or asking me what a “one-kah” bar was. We had fun making it.

Be safe, have fun and stay warm! Happy Halloween! Heart, Willy Wonka and friends.
